When Audi revamped its marketing strategy in the early 1990's they decided to rename their successful 100 family to the A6 family in the United States. The ignition system consists of several components that work together to start and keep the car running. The ignition system can consist of the battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distribution block and ignition coil. These components work together to ignite the gas/air mixture that enters the piston. The battery provides the energy the ignition coil increases the voltage significantly like a transformer and the spark plug wires transfers the energy to the spark plugs which ignite the gas/air mixture.
