The ignition system can consist of the battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distribution block and ignition coil. These components work together to ignite the gas/air mixture that enters the piston. The battery provides the energy the ignition coil increases the voltage significantly like a transformer and the spark plug wires transfers the energy to the spark plugs which ignite the gas/air mixture. If any of these components doesn't function properly the car may run poorly or not at all.
